gong gong’s letters explores my yearning to reconnect with my grandfather, who passed away too suddenly, with the use of letters that he wrote to my mom as they were separated across the ocean for six months as she was adjusting to living in America. Through this process, I learned a lot about my family members and past instances of how my immediate and extended family could have had different lives and experiences. I also learned about the connections to what I know now about my family.
